Storage & PrivacyDoes Steply upload my steps or health data to a server?
No. Steply is local-first: step history, goals, streaks, notification preferences and your personal info (height, weight, age) are saved only in the app’s private storage on your device. Gree Web Solutions does not operate any server that receives your activity data.
PermissionsWhy does Steply ask for the Physical Activity / Motion & Fitness permission?
It is the only way to read your phone’s step sensors. On Android this is the Physical activity (ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION) permission; on iPhone it is Motion & Fitness. Steply uses it solely to count steps. You can revoke it at any time in system settings.
How It WorksHow does Steply count my steps accurately, even when the app is closed?
On Android, Steply reads the hardware step counter and uses Google’s on-device Recording API (part of Google Play services), which keeps a step history on your phone for about 10 days. On iPhone it uses Apple’s Core Motion, which keeps about 7 days.
Steply copies that history into its own on-device storage so your reports go back further. None of this requires a Google or Apple account, and none of it leaves your device.
InternetWhy does the Android app have internet permission?
Only to download the app’s typeface (Plus Jakarta Sans) from Google Fonts the first time it is needed. Like any web request, this reveals your IP address to Google’s font service. No step data, identifiers or personal information are sent.
Ads & AnalyticsDoes Steply show ads or use analytics?
No. Steply contains no advertising networks, no analytics or crash reporting SDKs, and no social or marketing trackers.
NotificationsWhat notifications does Steply send?
Only the ones you enable: a daily reminder at your chosen time, an evening streak reminder (skipped once your goal is met), an “almost there” alert at 80% of your goal, and a goal-completed celebration. They are generated locally on your device — Steply uses no push notification servers.
Your DataHow do I delete my data?
Open Steply › Settings › Reset Data to permanently erase your step history and statistics. Uninstalling the app also removes everything Steply has stored. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing to delete on our side.
HealthIs Steply a medical device?
No. Steply is a general wellness app. Step counts depend on your device’s sensors, and distance, calories and active time are estimates. Consult a qualified professional before starting a new exercise routine.
